Just as an aside, when Eleanor won the tournament in France at the end of January, (winning 6-1 6-1 against Sandra Andriamarosoa, WR 1254), the press report read:
"Puissante sur ses appuis et dans ses frappes, la Britannique, âgée de 18 ans et membre du Team Kim Clijsters, simposa presque trop tranquillement."
which basically says: "With power in her legs and her shots, the British 18 year-old from the Clijsters academy, won almost too easily"
i.e. she walked it, and blew the other girl off the court.
Thanks for the translation CD, as a 14 year old at junior wimby, she showed a frightening level of power for someone so young, 114mph serves, maybe not so surprising given she was already 6ft ! but still very very impressive. Lacking consistency yes, but basically able to blow her opponents away with winner after winner. She had a spell with Laura's ex coach Bok, before heading to Germany, now in Belgium she looks to be thriving in this environment. Just got to keep healthy, and the tennis world is her oyster.
Very sad for Eleanor's 9-match winning streak to end that way I hope it won't keep her out for long. She really had made a stunning start to her comeback.
L16: (1) Samantha Murray WR 233 v (Q) Akvile Parazinskaite (LTU) WR 924 (= CH) - tomorrow L16: Anna Smith WR 493 beat (Q) Eleanor Dean WR 942 by 5-1 ret.
QF: Anna Smith WR 493 v Marie Benoit (BEL) WR 507 (CH 445 in Nov)
19-year-old Benoit (junior CH 68 in 2012) won one of these 10Ks in Sharm last month.
