RE: Week 14 - WTA International ($500,000) - Monterrey, Mexico - Hard

It's 4-4*

No breaks. Jo has had several chances to break.
I sometimes think Johanna wins the most points of almost any player I can remember, without actually winning them.
The number of times she has won the point, has half an empty court in to which to place the coup de grāce, yet hits it 3 feet long, is uncanny.

I use the drakula one but I've got SO much anti-virus stuff on my computer. I'm not recommending it though . . .

Frankly, I'm not sure it's worth it :::(((

Ugh Jo. Mess from 30-0, well saved set point, double on game point, tame error to lose the set.

Major brain freeze on pretty much every big point. Serve generally looks very good but she, and Mlad, are very poor from the baseline today.

Missed opportunity this. Let's see if she can fight back.

Stick a couple of quid into a bet365 account mate.

I'm not finding it so un-enjoyable as others, and certainly not dire (! x7! that's pretty dire!)

Frustrating, and a familiar story with Johanna, where she manages to look the better player most of the time, being some rough edges away from a very fine player.
But proceeds to lose sets like that one, and the rough edges are taking a long time to polish up.
4-6

It should be noted, Kiki is a shadow of her former self, and seems rather to have lost her way somehow from being such a great prospect 18 months ago.

you're right insomniacfolder, I'll rein back the !!!s (it's a bad habit anyway) And the dire !!!!! was meant for both of them, not just JoKo.

But I stand by the dire (minus the !!!).

If you ever see me play, I'll merit at least 7!

It's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand.

Jo distracted by a non out call that was miles in.

She needs to be drilling these put always for the rest of the week. That's about a dozen she's fluffed today.

I think this one is done, and it's not been great but the serve looks very good when it's on. She needs matches more than anything, she was a MDO here which made sense but I'd like to see her string some high challengers together to try and build momentum. Although the ITF schedule really limits what she can do in that respect.

Perhaps Johanna is planning a late charge.
She played some good points there to earn her first break.
Still a mighty big mountain to climb though.

4-6 *1-4

Yes that was the game of an angry woman!

It's windy but it's catching Jo out more than it should be. Do we know what kept her out Miami? Was it a little niggle?

I've given up. Joko was good when she served well, but she was just making silly errors at crucial times and Mlad threw in a few big serves at crucial times.

from 0-4 she may well make a charge if she relaxes......but if it gets close again, the same nerves/ panic/ tension usually reappear
