If you read my line i said 'things are falling apart'. Jeez, who knew such a line would get people so worked up? Think I've made it clear here that I'm delighted Cav is back and hope she makes a full comeback, if she wants to. Cav was one of my fav british tennis players and if things had worked out I'm in no doubt she'd be a comfortable top 50 player these days.
If anyone is playing a match and is 6-1 *2-1, then within minutes is 6-1 *2-5. That's quite a bit of a change. Except for the game at 2-1 the others went by very quickly. It is completely understandable as Cav has obviously not played at this level in a good 3-4 years.
I never stated that i expected Cav to win from that point simply that the loss of a comfortable lead is 'falling apart' whatever the circumstances.
Before any of our girls got into the top 100 I said I expected one of them to make it by the end of Wimbledon that year. I thought Naomi was most likely to be the first. Unfortunately her health problems made that impossible. Now I am just happy to see her playing again, hope she is enjoying herself, and will enjoy watching her whenever she decides to play.
Very good to see how she came again after the setback of the second set ( I am most certainly not going to use the phrase of the day, especially given it was much more likely just a quite common momentum change ).
Further tough challenges for Naomi and Freya. All the best to them.
