Oh, I think the reputation of British tennis ( such as it is ) was just about hanging on even without Eleanor's impressively clinical 10K wins here :)
Indeed her fellow youngsters Katy Dunne and Katie Boulter had really notable wins in much higher company earlier this week.
At Queens, Andy's loss is a bit of a disappointment, but not greatly here not there in the grander scheme. James and Evo had excellent wins, before each losing to world top 20 players.
At Birmingham, apart from Katy Dunne, Hev and Jo will be disappointed, but their form doesn't look too bad at all, and maybe a few lessons learned.
Comparatively low ratio of wins in total, but lots of players hugely outranked as usual at this time of year.
Great response after being 3-0 and 4-1 down in the second. The other girl was pretty good.
Deano has a wonderful forehand and is pretty clever on the court. Her backhand slice is probably her weakest shot (although this is the only match I've seen her play).
Nice to see a stream - never seen Eleanor play before and only watched the second set.
Eleanor had her arm taped up. Started OK, but them her serve went to pot and she looked lethargic and error strewn. Then she won 6 of the next seven games. Her serve was much more solid. Her movement was much better, her forehand was working really well and she mixed up her game with slices and drop shots which worked.
Looking at some of her scores in previous matches, she seams to play in streaks, which I'm guessing will be down to concentration levels and a lack of matches.
The talent is all there. When she is playing well she is probably playing top 250 level, but there is so much potential to play at a higher level if she can improve those concentration levels and get a little more power on that serve.
I think we have three top juniors in Katie, Katy and Eleanor that have the potential to make top 100 in a few years time and it's difficult to judge who is the best of the 3.
