Surprised to hear her serve wasn't powerful. Always though Eleanor has a massive serve and would regularly serve 2nd serves in the 90-100 range. Never seen her play so will hopefully get the chance with the semi final
I saw her play three points on serve - three HORRIBLE points - including a double fault - and thought I'd better go out, my dream bubble is about to be burst.
So, I'm putting it down to her being tight towards the end of the first set (or maybe a bit tired?).
Well done, Eleanor - her results speak for themselves - good luck for tomorrow and the next few months.
The other girl could of course be a very good returner. Nice to see even when pushed she isnt dropping sets though, and if her serve isnt as powerful as we remember perhaps the rest of her game has improved to compensate.
Either way, as mentioned, results speak for themselves. Very excited to see where she is at the end of the year.
According to ITF Live Centre, Eleanor has retired with the score 1-5.
4 dfs in 17 serves. 16/148 total for her previous 3 matches.
I've not noticed her name on any of the recent entry lists. She does seem to play a couple of events then nothing for a month.

This is what I find so frustrating about following British Tennis. A really bright prospect but so hard to find details out, its almost like she's a secret. Things are miles better than what they used to be some years ago but I still don't believe being a fan of another sport can be like tennis?
still another good week, to cheer us up a bit what's it likely to do for her ranking? After last week's event she was expected to climb to about 610 if I remember rightly.

This week's wins should take her into the top 600, probably around 580.

I think it was her serving arm which was strapped yesterday, protecting her elbow (from memory). I wonder if this is the injury which kept her out last year or a new one. Hopefully just precautionary.

In fairness, Eleanor is probably not used to people wanting to know what she is doing, but I do completely agree with your point. Twitter can sometimes be helpful but Eleanor doesnt tweet so that is a dead end too.
Hope the injury is nothing serious...I think she needs to take her return to the tour slow and steady, but very promising results so far. Interesting that she still won yesterday in straights with a less than potent serve as well.
