Great win for Lissy Barnett 64 64

Nicola was well on top in her match, so a bit disappointing ahe lost 64 in the third but a good day overall.

Manisha's results have been slightly disappointing recently, so I'm not convinced she will win. I also think Emily will struggle after yesterday's big win.
So just the three through for me.

I'd love to be wrong again.

I'd agree in general re Emily (difficult to follow up a big win) but the spanish girl has only really got through by the skin of her teeth, both yesterday and tight matches in the Q draw. So I think her time is up . . .
. .

PS nice to see some of the others getting wins in the doubles yesterday

1st Round

Katie was 0-3 in the first set as well so won 6 out of next seven. I thought that may be closer.

Manisha was a break down in the first set and has now broken back in the second 3*-4

Manisha comes back from 1-4 down in the second set to serve at 5*-4 and reach the QF.

I love to be proved wrong......

Katie B won 6-4 6-1

Manisha finally serves out despite having a multitude of set points and break points to defend.

Two out of two through.

This is so much better for many of our players than so many being put up as lambs to the slaughter in 25Ks that suit relatively few GB players.

I never expected them to do this well though !!

Emily is a set and a break up - so could be a full house.

Take note LTA - more 10K and 15K's for the girls - we have so many good juniors and players back from college or players starting out they need this local step up rather than flying out to Egypt.

16 year old Emily looks quite a prospect. So far this year she has beaten players ranked 354, 506, 1171 and lost to one ranked 196. She is Junior WR 83.
