Well, the one thing we know is that he won't be beating Benneteau, who has been knocked out by Paire. (Now that *was* a nasty 1st round match-up). Of course I was worried about Stepanek ... and Verdasco. Verdasco still a possible threat, but has been taken to a 5th by Rola. Stepanek, as noted earlier, is also out. Tsonga, after a blip in the 2nd set looks to be going towards victory against Monaco.

Sounds almost as eventful as the other time they met here, though then it was Haase who was 2 sets up.

L64: (8) Andy Murray WR 9 v (Q) Matthias Bachinger (GER) WR 235 (CH 85 in 2011)

Bachinger lost to a Brit here last year - Wardy in QR2 - and that's the last time he played a Brit in singles.

Andy was evidently saying yesterday that he had a great training block in Florida after Wimbledon, was pain free and this was the best he was prepared for a Grand Slam event since last year's Aussie Open and Wimbledon.

Hopefully just a temporary issue today. Virginia Wade will be rolling out her "drama queen" speech !

Odds are that Andy won't play again until Thursday.

A few R2 matches normally played in Wednesday night session, but with Andy now playing Bachinger I'd imagine less likely to be on Ashe late session.

I hope it is temporary issue I don't want to be negative but I don't see how some very serious questions can be avoided. Andy has spent the last week or so telling everyone that he is fully fit and in the best shape he has been all year yet he cramps during a first round match. I am sorry but something there doesn't add up. It well be mental as opposed to physical but something is seriously wrong.

Only one Men's R2 match is played on Wednesday (night session on Ashe).

totally confusing match how he managed to pull it through I will never know but maybe that makes Andy unique. I am not confident about him being back to his best and the cramping although it was hot is very worrying. Still think a lot of negativity in Andy's head which was eradicated in the Lendl era

I thought the Dutch tennis fans must have been going mad - you only needed to touch Andy and he'd have fallen over.

And Robin was very unlucky, right at the end, to have to replay that point where his excellent return, which was unreturnable, was mistakenly called out.

However, onwards and upwards for Andy . ..

Shades of the Wawrinka- Nadal Aussie Open final about it. Haase couldn't seize his moment though. It was definitely there for the taking. Locker room power perhaps.

Murray's camp told me that they hear Andy will play his second round match on Thursday, which gives him some more time to rest. #usopen

The only Men's second round match being played on Wednesday is Wawrinka v Bellucci

He certainly should.

But all that cramping when "my body let be down", when supposedly in such good shape, remains very strange.

Yet, I am strangely relatively optimistic for the rest of the tournament after this initial bit of Andy drama ( and no, I am not saying mock drama like Virginia Wade has been known to suggest ).
