RE: Week 35 - Spain F24 ($15,000+H) - Pozoblanco (Hard)

Brydan's win today should get him back into the top 300 on Monday week.

Given the Brits are 6 out of 6 for finalists - all 4 doubles and both singles - when was the last time that happened ? And in a 15K+H ?

Spaniards must be a bit down that we've rained on their parade :::)))

H2H 1-1, both long ago - Brydan won in 3 sets in Australia back in 2006, Ed in 2 in Nottingham in 2007

Assuming you mean outside the UK, I don't know - I've checked my list of overseas Futures with big singles points hauls at http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/futhauls.htm and while some of those tournaments had an all-GB singles final and GB doubles champs, none had an all-GB doubles final too. It may have happened 2010 but 15K+H events are so rare (and were even rarer), that I doubt it has ever happened before at a 15K+H.

As you'll already know if you clicked on the link in the previous paragraph, this tournament will have produced the biggest GB singles points haul since the new points system came in, despite only 2 Brits surviving R1!

Btw, Ed now has 150 points post-USO (which would have been enough for WR 298 in last Monday's list) and Liam 149 (which would have been enough for WR 299 in last Monday's list) so it is possible (though touch and go!) that all of the GB top 10 could be in the top 300 on Monday week (Alex Ward will drop out of the GB top 10 at that stage)

Excellent progress all round. Pleased for Klein particularly as he looks to be grafting.

Didn't expect Corrie to beat young Garin - excellent win that and excellent weeks for the both of them.

Expect Klein to win, but will be cheering for Ed.

Very encouraging form for both of them.

Brydan is certainly capable of being much higher ranked, and it is good to see Ed on the verge of being back in the top 300.

Again, the futures club website linked back to the ITF site. Very lively; Klein and Corrie getting 'star' treatment.

And, of course, no heavy hand of a national federation or 'major stakeholder' lurking behind. A local initiative and much the better for it.
