Not surprised that Kyle lost more games in R2 considering this guy was 18 and probably has more spark. There's nothing amazing about Kyle beating these two but there are positives to be taken if you want to take them. There's room for both the ordinary and the positive. I'd say that Duckworth's loss gives Edmund a much better chance of another Challenger SF but Thompson will be no easy deal and Kyle should, of course, be careful.
I watched around 20 mins of the Thompson / Duckworth match. It was not high quality, I'm sure both players would admit as much. I think neutral observers will have Kyle as the favourite. I wonder what the odds are? I might even try and wake up early enough to watch...
Win number 2 on the board, now the tournament really begins ( like the 2nd week of a slam for the top players ).
I see that Kyle is travelling with Trotters for this Asian swing, a decent sub for Greg.
Kyle first up again tomorrow at 10am local time. He could be in for along day, as he is scheduled to play QF singles, QF doubles and (if successful) SF doubles all in one day.
Should he win his QF singles, I hope that the doubles exertions don't impact on his singles SF which will no doubt be on Friday.
Disappointing. The first 2 matches were gimmes for someone of Kyle's current standard and potential level, which he won easily. This was likely to be a tougher match where I suspect most observers would have put Kyle as a slight favourite. To lose in 2 fairly easy sets wasn't what I expected at all.
However, the serve stats indicate real issues there, and you're always likely to have problems with stats like that. I hope Greg being missing isn't too big a handicap in looking to sort the serve out.
I'm watching a bit of Kyle's doubles, they served the first set at 5-4 but were broken. It is very, very windy. Perhaps Kyle didn't handle the wind well...

yes, quite possibly.
Kyle seems to be playing fine in the doubles (James too) so maybe just one of those things . . . one set and 5-2 up
