Weeks 35 & 36: US Open (hard) - mixed doubles

R1:  Casey Dellacqua (AUS) & Jamie Murray CR 47 (17+30) vs Elina Svitolina & Florin Mergea (UKR+ROU) CR 187 (151+36)

*  Decent first-round draw for Jamie & Casey, but the chances are that they'll end up playing the top seeds, Sania Mirza & Bruno Soares, in the last 16...

R1:  (4) Kristina Mladenovic & Daniel Nestor (FRA/CAN) CR 18 (13+5) vs Chan Yung-Jan (TPE) & Ross Hutchins CR 180 (32+148) bleh

*  Ross'll no doubt be sick of the sight of Nestor... hmm

Not so for Ross after all

L32: Chan Yung-Jan (TPE) & Ross Hutchins CR 180 (32+148) beat (4) Kristina Mladenovic & Daniel Nestor (FRA/CAN) CR 18 (13+5) by 7-6(5) 3-6 10:6

They will play Melanie Oudin & Rajeev Ram or Alizé Cornet & Treat Huey in R2.

Huge, but having seen M'lady's performance in the singles not as shocked as I might have been.

They miss 3 break points in the 1st game of the second set. Or rather their opponents saved them quite well.

Matkowski has gotten even bigger.

Anything that gives Ross a winning feeling can only be positive if he intends to carry on his career.

Out of nowhere Peschke has to retire. Not sure why.

Ross into the semi finals.

Possibly something to do with an earlier long (two hours & 14 minutes), hard R3 women's doubles match on the same court a short while before which she & Katarina Srebotnik, the fifth seeds, eventually won by 4-6 6-1 7-6(4)?
