England leading the Cook Islands 14-0 at half-time, looking very smooth and comfortable at the moment, should be an easy victory, the Cook Islands players have a lot of speed but are not good defensively. England's big test will come later today v Australia.
England's Matt Bowe and Guernsey's Ian Powell have qualified for the final. The New Zealanders are the favourites in this event.
women's 50m breastroke:
heat 1: Wales' Lowri Tynan came 3rd, has made the semis
heat 2: Kate Haywood of England came 2nd behind world record holder and gold medal favourite, Leisel Jones from Australia. Fiona Booth came 3rd and has also made the semis.
2 golds for Scotland - Caitlyn McClatchey stunned Libby Lenton in 200m freestyle (and broke the Commonwealth record), and David Carry won the men`s 400m freestyle.
England`s Mel Marshall won bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Wales` David Davies won bronze in the 400m freestyle.
In cycling, England took a 1-2-3 in the 4000m pursuit but in the 1km time trial Jason Queally took silver and Scotland's Olympic and world champion Chris Hoy, only took bronze as both were edged out by an Aussie.
In gymnastics, England's men took a team bronze.
A superb cycle from England's Victoria Pendelton secured a silver medal in the women's 500m sprint.
In the women's 200m medley, Terri Gooding, finished just behind the 3 Aussies in 4th - a very good performance
Tonight two big hopes for England are Matt Clay and Liam Tancock in the men's 50m backstroke final. Tancock is a massive favourite having smashed the Games record in the semis and was just 4 seconds off the world record.
Is anyone else staying up tonight ?

Been watching some of it this morning! Libby Lenton (AUS) won a gold in the 100m free style, Gregor Tait took gold for scotland in the 200m backstrock adn English men took gold in 4km pursuit vs Australia and Kristy Balfour just won a silver medal in the 200m Breastroke, beating the ?british record? twice today by over a second each time and 1.8 seconds right now!
England are now second in the Medals table behind Australia with 25 medals (8 golds, 11 Silver, 6 bronze) Scotland are fourth behind india with 11 medals (4 golds 4 silver 3 bronze)
The three English girls have qualified impresively for the 100m semis - Laura Turner looking particularly good. This race is so open Laura may have an outside chance of a medal, what do you think mkkreuk ?
The women's marathon has just started, England's Liz Yelling is likely to win a medal
I haven't been able to see the athletics yet but two bronzes in the marathon for England! Liz yelling held off Wales' Tracy Morris for third and Dan Robinson took the bronze for the men
Unfortunately Wales' Christian Malcolm who pulled up with a hamstring injury in the heats. ML-F, Jason Gardener and Asafa Powell all made it to the Semis of the 100m
The Scots are having another good day - just completed a 1-2 in the mens individual 400m medley. They also beat England in the final of the team sprint in the cycling
I see Bill Sweetenham is saying that all the Scottish and English swimming successes are showing how British is swimming is going in the right direction with the implication that what a good job he has been doing really in spite of recent controversies about possible 'bullying' and basically bad people management.
I'd say that what it does show is :
1) He has been very good at overhauling coaches and training programs so GB now has much greater talent than a few years ago.
2) That talent cannot fully flourish if they are not right mentally come the big occasions eg. last Olympics when many privately complained it was like being in a Boot Camp just prior and at the Games with no opportunity been given to feel a full part of the team / Games and enjoy the occasion. Comare this with how relaxed the competitors are saying they are at the Commonwealth Games with their individual country's teams, with Bill Sweetenham in the background re final prep and only taking on an advisory role.
Performing at the top level is a mixture of talent and mental wellbeing on the day.
Bill Sweetenham has undeniably had a great deal to do with the iimprovement in the pool of talent, but I don't think he has helped with their mental wellbeing at recent top meets - Worlds and Olympics.
I hope he takes on board some of the swimmers comments re how relaxed they've been at the Commonwealth Games and how well they've performed. He needs to relax the 'regime' close to major championships - let individuals to do final prep in way best suited to them.
For Scotland & England jointly to have won more swimming gold medals than Australiia is indeed a huge achievement and contrasts markedly with GB v Australia in Olympics 19 months earlier. I hope some lessons are learned.
