Oops, that's right - I was replacing his 7 points due off from Champaign last year and assuming that 7 points this year would take him ahead of Kyle, forgetting I'd already allowed for his 19th best score of 2 to be added back.

LOL no need to apologise for contradicting me when I'd got it wrong. I'd have realised as soon as Ed wins (if he does) and I added the points to the table, i.e. the calculation and data on the table are correct but my feeble excuse is that I'm not really used to GB men having non-zero 19th scores to add back when points come off - at least not non-counters greater than 1 if they aren't Andy Murray! What's really amazing is that the GB no. 25 has a non-counter, though that probably says more about the trouble he has surviving R2s than anything else.

Great stuff, really come back to form over the last 2 weeks, eventhough he lost to the Milkman last week, he did pick up a reasonable number of games, so a decent effort.
Thankfully the Milkman is on the other side of the draw this week, so chances to have a decent run here.

The 7 games he picked up against the Milkman last week was the most anyone picked up (equal with 4th seed Moriya) so definitely a sign of how well Kyle played - or a sign of how well the Milkman is playing, depending on how you want to look at it.
Interesting that the slightly older Uchida was ranked higher than Kyle in juniors and is now so far behind in seniors, although I don't know all the circumstances with him.
It does look an example of one of I would think many approximate peers of Kyle that have been less successful as a counterpoint to those that are currently ahead of him.
First set Kyle 7-5 in a mixture of dominant forehands and several UEs. Kyle started slowly and wnet 0-2 down but then played really well to get back on terms.
At *4-4 he then had to save 5 BPs and 2 more at *5-5. Each time there were errors early in the game but he played superbly under pressure on those BPs. Having held he then hit some glorious winners to break to love in the final game of the set.
A break to love whilst leading 2-1* has put Kyle in the driving seat in this set. His serve is looking good right now and he is just 1 game away. Uchida still fighting hard though and has played very well at times.
5-2*
