The boys' semi-final opponents are a bit of a surprise package:
SF: Gastão Elias (POR) & Sean Thornley CR 549 (355+194) vs (WC) Ross William Guignon & Tim Kopinski (USA/USA) CR 2506 (1246+1260)
A chance of a place in the final for Sean & Gastão? The Yank wild cards (college boys, therefore conceivably under-ranked? I'm too lazy check...) accounted for the second seeds, Demoliner & Maytín, who had beaten Lewis & Marcus in the first round, in three closely fought sets in their quarter-final.
A look at the Illinois website shows that they're the home team - and were in the finals of the university championships a few weeks ago. So yes, probably safe to assume that they're under-ranked. University teams having a good Autumn at their home Challengers this year.
A good article but it was quite funny reading the bits about Kyle which were already a bit out of date when the article was written (assuming it was written yesterday) and very out of date by the time I read it

Yes quite funny. It's like an unnamed person making the point a couple of days or so ago that Kyle was just a bit above our average prediction ranking - OK, me. Kyle is rewriting our scripts.
Pity maybe in some ways about the split with his girlfriend, but great respect for Liam re some of his choices, in particular seeming to take control as to what is best for his own tennis career so that we are not left with two Broadys who would appear to not have been all they could be.
The early Telegraph paragraph highlights some reasons that I have referred to before as to why on balance I personally didn't agree that it had been a "great" year for British men's singles tennis i.e. Evans, Golding ( two pretty significant figures as we entered 2014 ), it mentions Morgan, I mentioned depth after the first dozen or so. I had thought it on balance a pretty good year.
But such has been the end of the year from such as in particular James, Liam and Kyle that I am sure that most of us find ourselves seeming to keep partially reappraising our thoughts on the year. At least some of us have left ourselves more scope to improve our adjectives :)
