I see that Lopez lost to Ilhan, who prior to beating 17 year old wild card Alexander Zverev in R1 hadn't won a main draw match on the main tour since the US Open in 2011. Looks like James missed out on a decent opportunity here.

What's to say Ilhan wouldn't have beaten him as well? wink

I see young Borna Coric has taken full advantage of his lucky loser spot, reaching the quarters today by beating "Baggy".  I wonder what Andy will make of him...

Very good win for Jamie and John with Klaasen/Paes having had a very good start to the year so far

My point was that for Lopez to lose to Ilhan, especially on Dubai's fairly quick courts, you would assume that he is no were near his best and possibly still affected by having been ill at the weekend. Therefore it was a decent chance for James to have beaten him.

Yes! Great comeback in the tie break to take the first set. Well impressed with Mergea's return of serve and Dom's serve and volley. Great combination. Can see why they have been doing so well of late.

One set all. Level certainly dropped in 2nd set.

Marcus better than Dom :)

I like Marcus ( well, from what I see and hear ), but ...

Great that Dom has so quickly formed a good partnership with Mergea so soon after the split from Huey.

C'mon guys !

Yes. Great win. Recovered from two soft DFs early in the MTB. Some huge ground strokes from Mergea at the end there.
