Can't ask for much more than that, can you? Bashilasvili looks set to make it 1 set all in his QR1 against Copil, but a decent amount of money and 10 points (another NC I believe).
Over in 33 minutes. Good result but disappointing not to see James tested a bit more. James told me that Janahi told him he hadn't played for one year. Questions why the UAE Fed are giving local wild cards to guys like that.
James can only beat what's in front of him. Hopefully he does just that twice more this week and we'll see him into the top 100! Qualifier places in the main draw aren't looking too bad, Lopez aside.

Is two more wins enough ? His 45 points from here last year drop out at the end of the week. I think he would have to make the QF to get there. But I've been wrong before.
I would think that James' best chance to reach the top-100 would be if he entered into a Challenger and was highly seeded? He has points coming off here but no counters coming off in March except 18 points at Indian Wells.
Enjoyed watching Jamie Murray play this evening. Great return of serve. Won 6-4 7-6. Final qualifying round tomorrow and then potential match v Paes who was watching their match this evening.
QR1: (4) James Ward WR 106 defeated (qWC) Hamad Abbas Janahi (UAE) UNR by 0 & 0
It is quite frankly embarrassing that players like this get given wild cards. It is time that the ATP bring in a rule to prevent unranked players receiving wild cards.
FQR: (q1) Jamie Murray & John Peers CR 63 (31+32) vs Andrey Golubev & Denis Istomin (KAZ/UZB) CR 326 (69+257)
Golubev & Istomin put out the q2s, Fabrice Martin & Purav Raja, &, of course, Jamie & John in the first round in Marseille this week where they were the third seeds, so a quick chance for revenge.

I watched Wardy's match today, Janahi is the worst player I have ever seen play in a professional tournament, he was truly awful and looked like he didn't even want to be there.
The sad reality is that he'd probably beat me 6-0, 6-0 as well.
