There's an interview with Barrere on the Quimper site:

www.opendequimper.com/questionsreponses-gregoire-barrere/

Not much of note apart from, Ed take note, he describes his strong point as being his fighting quality, the fact that he never gives up, right to the bitter end.

The winner of Ed's match will play David Guez who put out the 5th seed

... in 2 hours 55 minutes & 24 seconds, so he never gives up! disbelief  He did for Andreas Beck (3) in three sets in 2 hours 24 minutes & 8 seconds yesterday, so he'll probably be a little weary, but I'll bet his confidence is sky high!

Barrere playing very aggressively (he looks so 'INSEP' (big sport academy in Paris) - they churn out a certain 'look' of player).

Ed then forced into going for a bit too much and making errors.

6-2 to Greg.

Ed was totally outclassed today in under 50 mins by someone ranked 200 places lower. For those in any doubt this is why the LTA no longer fund over 25's on the challenger circuit. What's the point?

Or, "for those in any doubt", you could say, how come the French Federation has been giving Greg full support and total funding at the top academy for the last five years or so when he was so lowly ranked? And is well over the 18 or 19 cut-off age?

Maybe if the LTA showed the same conviction and commitment (despite rankings not always going in the right direction), then the Brits would NOT lose ?

 The ignorance is absolutely astounding.

Mark1968, did you notice that James Ward won some little match in Glasgow today ?

Aged 28, just recently reached a CH 101, playing better than ever.

Nuff said.

I find that extremely disrespectful to be honest. I realise Ed hasn't played a ton of Challenger QFs, but to attribute the loss to ignorance is really doing Ed a disservice.
