The fine fettle Andy appears to be in, Andy and Jamie.
If we did go 2-0 ahead though, I think I'd go for Dom and Jamie. I was fairly definite about this, but with Andy up first today and how it's going, I'm not now just as sure, but on balance still Dom and Jamie if James beats Isner ( and Andy beats Young! )
Problem for marcus is with his current ranking tough to get a doubles player of the quality deserves . I think Marcus pairing with Jamie murray , colin Fleming or Dom would not be out of place
His current ranking is poor because he is not playing Quimper this week, or Cherbourg last week. Or, indeed, (if he happens to be slightly injured, say, at the moment) then because he has not played hardly any other major point scoring opportunities in recent times.
Marcus has practically zero experience at Challenger level, let alone ATP level.
He does not 'deserve' at better partner until he shows that he is worth one. And winning a few futures here and there is not what it's about.
Frankly, I'm pleased to see him focusing on his singles. I think he has good potential there - top 200 at least. But his programming leaves me bemused . . . . maybe it'll change . . .
can't really argue with the logic do I advise Marcus but he decides his own schedule . His fear is more about loss of prize money rather than gaining experience at the tougher challenger level
Was there some issue of a clash with A1 league fixtures preventing Marcus going out to the US in the spring of last year? I recall getting that impression.
After Wardy's brilliant performance, definitely Dom and Jamie. Give Andy a rest for Sunday. The Bryans would be a tough task even with Andy playing - so if we still lost the doubles in perhaps a long match, Andy would probably not be in top form for his final singles.
Leon was saying after Ward / Isner thst currently it remains Dom & Jamie, but there is a discussion to be had.
I trust that it will be a very short discussion. Andy will still be relatively fresh this evening ( although probably emotionally drained, which is also a consideration ), Isner knackered. Advantage Andy. Let's keep it that way.
even though I think Andy /Jamie would be a stronger combination for the doubles based on their incredible reckon you would expect the Bryan's to favour it against any pair .
Needing one more win from 3 matches your most likely going to get it from Andy v a tired Isner and so keeping Andy as fresh as possible makes a lot of sense .
If was 1-1 at this stage then I would have gone for Andy /Jamie but taking into account want happened against Italy and learning from previous mistakes with the opportunity to test the dom /Jamie partnership
think should be looking at it as a learning curve for Leon prior to a tough QTR final where the doubles could easily be the decisive rubber
