Week 20 - Challenger (€42,500) - Eskisehir, Turkey - hard

If he qualifies, James will face Dennis Novak (6/WR 243), Marco Chiudinelli (WR 303, but with a CH of 52 in February 2010, Henrique Cunha (7/WR 246) or Iñigo Cervantes (2/WR 184) & would pick up 440 for losing in the first round.

So pleased for a James M, that's a really good win.

Main draw:

L32:  Josh Milton WR 365 (CH = 306 in August 2011) vs (WC) Grega Zemlja (SLO) WR 323 (CH = 43 in July 2013) bleh

that looks like an unlucky draw - is Zemlja returning from injury or just had a shocking bit of form?

It seems he was diagnosed with mononucleosis after Wimbledon the year before last & is just coming back from eight months out of the game.

I see Josh was the last DA, too.

thanks for the info. On balance given the draw maybe a bit of a shame Josh scraped in - maybe could have done with winning two qualifiers and getting a bit of confidence and 3 points. It is what it is though

I assumed this tournament was on clay for some reason - being on hard makes Marsalek's win yesterday all the more impressive to me

So near & yet so far!  It needed to be straight sets.  If only he'd been able to protect the early break in the second set:

FQR:  (q8) Filip Veger (CRO) WR 560 defeated James Marsalek WR 668 by 6-7(6) 7-5 6-4

Veger will know he's been in a match though:  it lasted over 2½ hours!

Such a shame for Marzi. I really hoped he would get something tangible in the way of points and money following his big win yesterday. Seems like another good effort today but unfortunately not quite enough.

Must be a real confidence boast regardless, he could have easily walked away from the weekend with nothing and I am sure he takes away more than he anticipated.
