Phew! Wasn't sure that would happen today. Neil was denied a Tuesday start, so got up at 3.30am and flew from Gatwick. Interested to see what happens on Wednesday.

Now that's what I call cutting it fine. Needs to go to bed now and not get up until Weds morning.

Tell me about it - he had club league on Sunday so couldn't fly until today. It's normally never an issue to request a Tuesday start - especially when you're not actually there. The ref rang him and said she was putting him on not before 4.30, but that he had to play today.

L16: Neil Pauffley WR 817 v (WC) (2) Toni Androic (CRO) WR 399 (CH 219 Aug 2014)

Think they should add "after suitable rest" on the OoP for this one.

Bah. He should still get extra points ( and dosh ) for making and winning his R1 match.

That would be great if he did haha! Just spoken to him. He said the courts are awful there - bounces are horrendous. Sounds like a great place too, but don't think we'll be going back again. Apparently the courts do get a little better on August though!

That's absolutely bloody awful. They only played 4 R1 matches on Monday, no reason at all why Neil's match couldn't have been played Tuesday. I can only assume that it was done deliberately to help his Croatian opponent.
