Dave Rice pips Joe S, 6-4 in the third - as said, real shame they had to come up against each other (if they'd given Q wildcards on recent grass form, Dave would have got one and then it wouldn't have been necessary).

Agree I know Richard is good on grass but I thought Marcus would win

Definitely - slightly unexpected result. He lost 7-5 in the 3rd to Josh last year. great result for Bloomfield...so couldn't call it tomorrow. Hoping a 3 set match has taken it out of him today! Neil beat him in a close 3 setter this time last year.

Groth didn't need a wild card and I suspect that Ebden will get one of the remaining wild cards.

Not to mention a win against Darcis in Queens qualies, and his general upwards trajectory of the last 6 months.

However, there are still MDWC's to be given out as well as some for qualies and I'd be surprised if Brydan doesn't receive one of these. Maybe just making him sweat?!
