tough going this week for James vs weak opposition. Perhaps a bit of tiredness and Delhi belly? But getting the W's. No reason why he can't go on and win it again but lets see.
can't see james making it to ecuador tbh after his recent run. though seems to be down for buenos aires the following week, which is probably a bit more sensible (though why they can't just train on some southern european clay courts am not so sure...)
Weak opposition or not this is still a Challenger and James is winning. Consistently. His opponents will be playing loose, playing a top seed without expectations. I'd be surprised if he doesn't stumble but if it's 2 titles in 2 weeks then I'd say he's done very well.
Got to say that the reaction to his tournament win last week from some people was way over the top - talk about going overboard! It was one of the weakest challenger fields imho ever assembled. Or as someone else posted on another forum - a glorified futures event! This one is slightly better so should he win this then I might start believing that there has been any serious improvement.
Considering how James was playing a little while ago, really awful for instance in his France meeting with Ivashka and his long losing streak ( though we do also now know the sad off court issue re his coach ), I think it has just been really good to see James evidently playing better, getting some matches and wins, including a turnaround win against Ivashka, which he can hopefully repeat.
I think others have just like me been really pleased to see a turnaround in his fortunes and expressed that without in general at all going overboard about the general standard or who he is beating.
Certainly better, and that is good to see, but a way still off his best. Matches and wins will help accelerate improvement again. And that's good
I do think you mix up people being very pleased and thinking this is great for James against any claim that the standard has been great.

Fair enough Indy - but like I said some imho went overboard, not all - but overboard is how it came across.
