Sorry, I take full responsibility for that defeat my previous post obviously enraged the tennis ju-ju gods and a bit like FIFA and world cups the outcome was predetermined before Brydan stepped on court.
Sorry, Sorry, white rabbits, white rabbits.....
I do however stick by the sentiment of my statement that Brydan has consolidated some of the softer skills around his game this year which previously have got in the way of his progress, this allied with plenty of hard graft will hopefully continue to show an incremental growth in rankings.
He seems to have been able to maintain that growth playing predominantly challenger tennis and little or no ITF. Given the differential points difference ie you can really only go so far playing futures his challenger consistency just needs to take one more step and the threshold of top 100 and GS MD tennis beckons!
Bah, sold a dummy there. The first thing that I registered as I dozily came onto the thread were the above clapping hands. Yay, Brydan has won again and is into the final.
Alas no, but yes he does seem to be making progress in different areas. I loved wolf's report of how he dealt with the bleatings of Dayne Kelly at the end of their L16 match.

Wops sorry, but your right it does look like he is beginning to get it in terms of straergies to control his emotions, it's difficult to interpret exactly what was meant by congratulating Kelly on playing well, was he showing empathy, extracting the urine or genuinely congratulating on playing well... Who know but actually all are good for different reasons
I watched the second set, Thompson barely made an unforced error. It was a very high quality match. Brydan had 0-30 at 5-4 in the second but Thompson played 4 excellent points.
The game at 5-5 was an epic and must have taken a good 20 minutes, Brydan saved 4 BPs including one with a diving volley (after which he bowed to the crowd!!) but Thompson eventually took the 5th after an epic rally.
