Koslov has reduced his UE count and hit a couple of good shots. He has an early break in the decider. 2-0 to him.

Crazy match though as Marcus breaks back. Problem is, he hasn't held serve since the 1st set having been broken 5 times in a row.

Agree. Kozlov has been a lot more patient in the 2nd and third sets.  Marcus hanging in there somehow though.

Finally Marcus gets a hold, despite being 0-40 and saving 6 BPs in total in the last game.

2-2*

never seen Rubin play before....

Interesting that one gets used to the Americans having big, tall guys - and now there's kozlov and Rubin etc. who are a completely different build.

That may have been the match point. Marcus broken after a very very long service game.

Just the 9 deuces and about as many game points to Marcus. Serving to the Ad court didn't go well there

Well, one out of four of our boys make it through. Funnily enough Dave Rice was the one I expected the least from today, but well done to him on a good win and a place in the MD.
Particularly gutted for Marcus after he seemed so well in control after the 1st set.
Evo and Milts up later in the main draw

Didn't see any, but tough ask for Marcus with being injured and so little match play of late. I had a sneaking feeling before he lost that very long game at *2-3 that he was going to sneak this from young Kozlov, but not to be.

Dan, of course, has also been out for a while and as was said earlier just wish the guy the fortune to have a sustained period of good health and fitness to push on again.

And, of course, well done, Mr Rice !

Watched the final set of slimbomb's match. Two serve and volleyers and error strewn. Marcus big serve didn't really make an impact and Marcus is normally very good with his volleying, but made lots of errors at the net.
A fully match fit and confident Marcus would have won that match.

Given Marcus has just come back from a lengthy layoff, I did wonder if yesterday's 3 setter was affecting him in the final stages.
