RE: Week 44 - Challenger ($50,000) - Charlottesville Men's Pro Tennis Challenger, Charlottesville, VA, USA (hard)

Duckworth has lost the plot completely and Rice leads *4-1. But he was a double break up in the second set and almost lost it.

Duckworth is making Dave work hard in this service game - quite a few deuces and and now another break point. Dave ha never beaten a player in the top 150, so it'll probably be tough to get over the line. He saves the latest bp too though ...

He held on, leaving Duckworth to go and hang his head for a while The Aussie then held. Dave started serving for the match with a DF but now has match point ...

Duckworth saves match point and now has a break point ... which Dave saves

Saw bits and pieces of the match and Dave was easily the better player.

Best I've seen him play for a while. Unfortunately the Aussie self imploded half way through the final set and was more like Jack Duckworth than James....

Is that enough to push Dave into the top 500?
Marcus is moving the other way though....

Yes, don't know if anyone takes much interest in top 500

But that has moved Dave to 76 points, and in the current rankings 76 points covers WRs 498 to 500.

Oh just win another round ( or two ) to make sure !

mr Rices Presbytarian training environment appears to be paying dividends in the home of the Pilgrim fathers, perhaps there is something to be said for no frills training when it reflects the no frills day to day existence on the ITF and challenger tour. I do think he has earn't himself a low fat yoghurt in way of a celebration.

It would be nice to see him capitalise on this win!

Dave's win leaves him borderline Top 500. He has a net 9 to go on this week already (10 - 1) which puts him on 76 points. Currently WR 500 has 76 whilst WR 501 has 75 so he might just get in. But unless he wins in the L16, any entrance to the Top 500 will be very temporary as he has 8 points coming off the following week.

Really glad to see Dave hitting some form as he has had a lean time of things recently. Let's hope the trend continues.
