Em misses two break points in the third game of the second set and retires down 1-6 1-1
Hope she's ok
That is sort of a fitting way to end her singles adventure in 2015, which has been a bit of a disaster really. Some missed opportunities in high point matches (Osaka in Midland, Zheng in Brum, Min in Wimbledon) that could have put her back on the right footing, but overall it was a tough season. Shame after 2014 had ended so nicely, I think we all felt a run up into the top 275 was on the cards.
I hope she's able to take to the doubles court this afternoon, that has been a much cheerier story this year, and it would be a shame to end with a withdrawal.
No one has really been grasping GB number 4 or beyond our top 3 ( and of course great years for Jo and Naomi ) more globally really establishing themselves in the top 300.
Once Katy's India points drop off Amanda ( currently WR 316 ) will inherit the number 4 spot unless Tara reaches the SF in Turkey.
