Congrats to all who stayed around for this one...an interesting read!
Brilliant that Naomi hung in there to guts it out and make the most of her R1 giant killing :D
Fitzy's charges, past and present, are scheduled last match of the day tomorrow.
That's good news as it's likely to translate to a much more palatable match time for UK viewers.
The match prior is, 'not before 05:30 UK, so I'd suggest Naomi on court not before 07:00 UK time, and likely closer to 08:00.
That's the worst case, as, if the early matches overrun, it would get even more favourable for breakfast viewing here.
Video from 2 angles in this article. Not sure the cameras actually captured her racket striking the ball-boy. The commentary at the time made it clear that the ball-boy was hit and I believe the umpire asked him about the extent of his injuries. Jelena claimed that the racket slipped out of her hand; which is a tough one to believe once you've watched it a few times.

Amazing.... If only I had her moral fortitude faded at 01:00 such a fantastic performance deserves increased effort by the fan base will try harder! Keep it up please Ms Broady
Racket chucker should get a fine and lose points equivalent to a win (not that any lives were lost but it is essential to avoid the petulance of the premiership, when there is big money at stake it's important that the deterrents are commensal with potential renumveration to maintain high standards of behavior)
Looks like a throw. Seems incompatible to give a code violation for abuse and not disqualify if it has hit someone (which I can't see on the clip) - intention to hit is not part of the rules.
That said, I don't really like players asking for others to be disqualified. Play to the umpire, allow the umpire to make mistakes and live with them.
Nevertheless, terrific third set grit by Naomi. Impressive. Just the way to respond when things going wrong.
