Pretty scratchy first set.
Had this been played exactly one year ago, it would have been a performance very much par for that course.
Can Jo find the player from the second half of last year for set 2? She'll need her.

Jo lost the first set 6-3, but is a break up in the second.

Definitely agree with both parts of that first statement.
A common theme in the WTA; even with big names in QF, SF or finals they still play to virtually empty stadiums most all of the time.
Second set so far a marginal improvement.

The forecast was 100% chance of showers pretty much all day, so who knows when they'll be back. Most of qualifying already had to be moved to makeshift indoor courts, with hand drawn paper sheets for scoring!
