If Laura wins her R2 opponent is likely to be 8th seed Melanie Stoke (NOR) 438. The other seed in Laura's section is 12th seed Marta Paigina (RUS) 471 but more dangerous is likely to be 18 year old Elena Gabriela Ruse (ROM). Her pro circuit ranking is 558 but her junior career high is 7.

I was thinking you don't get many Uruguayans in tennis - indeed Laura's opponent is Uruguay's highest (and only) ranked player.

Great win for Laura. May not be against a strong opponent, but got to start somewhere. Next round against Stokke, who like Laura has just won her first match of 2016 and her first since November. She's not in good form so Laura definitely has a good shot of making the final round.

Umpired matches should start from L32 qualifying in 25K, so yes as long as the machines are working this will be the case.
