She won anyway. The double fault thing is very common with people coming back from injuries like hers. Give her chance!

Q2: ROBSON, Laura (GBR) 556 v STOKKE, Melanie (NOR) 8 438 2-6 6-3 7-6(4)

Q3: ROBSON, Laura (GBR) 556 v RUSE, Elena Gabriela (ROU) 558 =CH 18yo JCH=7

This match looks tougher, she will need to get more 1st serves in.

Yes, she was just cleverly maximising her match practice!

Better way of looking at it than a lot of effort for 0 ranking points.

Yes, though when she doesn't, getting second serves in would be good.

Confidence must be next to zero. Hopefully she can get some from this and the DFs will reduce

Well done on the win!

To be fair, Stokke hit 13 DFs herself...both are low on confidence and neither covering themselves in serving glory.

Phew; scraped home despite the DFs; baby steps...

Laura has lost several close matches over the past few months, so getting through this, even if it was a big struggle, will give her a bit of a boost.

A match with some similarities in the close score to Jo's match earlier to day, but also a stark contrast in level that show how long a path Laura has ahead of her.

One thing I can take from the service stats that is a good sign for Laura is that she was winning 70% of her points on the first serve. If she can up her 1st serve percentage, she shouldn't have as many issues as today. Ultimately, the first serve percentage being so low gave room for so many DFs. The second serve does clearly need work though.
