RE: Week 5 - Challenger ($100,000) - RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas, Tx (hard)

Dan dusts off the backhand slice on his way to a hold to 30
Anytime now would be great to break Evo...

Brutal net cord there that will hurt Rublev, 30-30 and a gorgeous forehand from Dan sets up the BP
Dan then takes the break when his opponent sends a forehand long
Evo to serve for the match *5-3

Another high quality game to finish. Good standard throughout the majority of this match, and the right man on the right side of the result from our perspective.

5-7 6-4 6-3

Yay Dan

Really nicely done, Dan (and now thejester can get his zzzzzsss)

Thought Rublev was tiring towards the end, standing further back, which is what you'd expect (hope?) with a youngster.

Dan did very well to get that second set - I think Rublev knew the third was going to be a tough ask - he played smart tennis, did our man.

I can tell you one thing for certain, The Frat will not be happy to see Evo's name next to his on the OOP...

Terrific win. Best I've seen Evo play for a long time.

Rublev just couldn't keep those levels from the first set and errors crept in.

Not often you play somebody you've beaten 3 times in a couple of months!  Let's hope Dan can make it 4 in a row!

I was impressed with Dan, Though I only saw the last two sets. He was tight, didn't give much away...

R1:  (3) Nicolás Barrientos & Ariel Behar (COL/ARG) CR 364 (152+212) defeated Ruben Gonzales (PHI) & Darren Walsh CR 425 (246+179) by 6-4 3-6 [13-11] cry

The boys actually fought back from being 3-4 points down in the MTB to having a match point, but ultimately couldn't quite hold on.  hmm

Dan did very well to keep his composure throughout the match. As I said, Rublev was hitting the ball with a lot of power and kept it deep the majority of the time. Dan seemed to do a good job of accepting that Rublev was going to hit some big winners, and varied his play nicely to stay in the rallies. He didn't make a lot of errors, and as I say kept his head when he did, striking the ball very nicely throughout. A good performance against a dangerous opponent and hopefully he can keep it up against Fratangelo in the next round. With no points to defend until May every week is a chance to make some upward movement on the rankings. I fancy Dan to be in a position to get a seeding for French open qualifying, and he should get some WCs in the grass court season too. I'm really positive about 2016 for Evo, just hope he can stay fit and focused

Commentator of McGee match saying that Kyle got in late yesterday afternoon, has only had one practice hit, but feeling quite upbeat despite the loss in the final.

Great to see Evo use his experience to beat a player who will be a significant force in 2-3 years. Both Kyle and Evo have Put themselves in good positions to make lots of progress in 2016, really enjoying watching it.
