Brutal net cord there that will hurt Rublev, 30-30 and a gorgeous forehand from Dan sets up the BP
Dan then takes the break when his opponent sends a forehand long
Evo to serve for the match *5-3
Another high quality game to finish. Good standard throughout the majority of this match, and the right man on the right side of the result from our perspective.
Dan did very well to keep his composure throughout the match. As I said, Rublev was hitting the ball with a lot of power and kept it deep the majority of the time. Dan seemed to do a good job of accepting that Rublev was going to hit some big winners, and varied his play nicely to stay in the rallies. He didn't make a lot of errors, and as I say kept his head when he did, striking the ball very nicely throughout. A good performance against a dangerous opponent and hopefully he can keep it up against Fratangelo in the next round. With no points to defend until May every week is a chance to make some upward movement on the rankings. I fancy Dan to be in a position to get a seeding for French open qualifying, and he should get some WCs in the grass court season too. I'm really positive about 2016 for Evo, just hope he can stay fit and focused
Commentator of McGee match saying that Kyle got in late yesterday afternoon, has only had one practice hit, but feeling quite upbeat despite the loss in the final.
Great to see Evo use his experience to beat a player who will be a significant force in 2-3 years. Both Kyle and Evo have Put themselves in good positions to make lots of progress in 2016, really enjoying watching it.
