Liam lost his 1st set breaker, but broke in the opening game of the 2nd. From there, both players held throughout the set so Liam took it 6-4 to square the match up at 1 set all.
Shame that Pauffers and Bambo have to meet in R2, beacause both have the potential to reach the semis at least.
Didn't this also happen a few weeks ago? Really unhelpful. But well done, Mr Pauffley, to set the rematch up. And great to see the doubles teams progressing.
A query? Who is Sean Hodkin, with whom Mr Cox is playing? Don't remember the name ...

He is a youngster from Dan C's neck of the woods(S****horpe) - I think he is 15/16
Forgot to mention, that Dubarenco is a very good player. Definitely on the up.
I'd expect us to get at least 3 through, if not 4.
it's been a shame this hasn't been like the previous couple of years when we just effectively shared the points about!
He may very well be, but he is a set down to the Swedish qualifier that put an end to Dan Smethurst's hopes yesterday. Perhaps puts a bit more perspective on Dan's defeat.
Windahl, the Swedish qualifier, went on to beat Dubarenco in straight sets.

Ridiculous, isn't it, that Activeboard's censorship can't distiguish between words on their own (with a space on either side) and perfectly innocent use as parts of other words. Still, always (slightly) amusing.

QF: Jonny Gray & Stefan Sterland-Markovic UNR (1237+0) "defeated" (4) James Marsalek & Raymond Sarmiento (USA) CR 1118 (721+397) by a walkover
Wonder what's going on there. Shame for James if it's Sarmiento, who lost his singles match in three sets to Napolitano (4), who proves to be injured.
I am thinking more along the lines that Sarmiento has lost his singles and as this is the last of the 3 futures for now in the UK, he has decided to make a dash for the airport. Given that Marzi would have gone into the match off the back of an almost 3 hour epic singles win, he is probably glad of a bit of rest to prepare for his QF against Luke.
Ed needs a big week, to get him going again, but the Swede has had some good results this week - it won't be easy
Bambo should overcome Marzi
Liam should overcome the German
Dan C has had some good results, but the Italian may be a step too far.
