Pity, but very cool and creditable performance by the French against persistent opponents who just wouldn't go away and against the crowd too.

QF: Julien Benneteau & Edouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA/FRA) CR 89 (75+14) defeated (3) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 10 (1+9) by 6-4 6-4 6-7(9) 6-7(1) 10-8 bleh

I delayed my departure from work in the hope of seeing them complete the turn-round, but gave up at 8-8. Bitterly disappointed to see the result when I got home, but I was more or less expecting it. It seems Jamie & Bruno merely postponed the inevitable by winning those two tie-breaks. cry So, points lost, since Jamie & John Peers reached the final last year. cry

A good fight - especially given that the previous round's exertions can't have helped when it reached the bitter end.

Both last year's finalist and the 2012 winner will doubtless be disappointed, but credit to them (and the others) for a good tournament overall.

A footnote to the barney at the end of the match between Jonny/Adil & Cuevas Granollers a couple of days ago:

Player fine for toilet threat

A player who threatened to urinate in a ball can on court at Wimbledon, then staged a sit-in protest during a match, has been fined almost £7,000.

Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas was punished for unsportsmanlike conduct after the two incidents in a doubles game. Partner Marcel Granollers was fined £5,800 for his part in the protest.

So the final will be an all-French affair: PHH & Mahut vs Benneteau & ERV! I may even swallow my disappointment at the absence of Jamie & Bruno, Jonny & Adil or Dam & Dan & deign to watch it. wink
