Kyle floated a second serve return just long at 6-5* 30-30 to miss a chance of a BP/SP. And in the breaker not getting enough first serves in and getting more involved in dogfight points rather than relative freebies was probably his main undoing.
Kyle though does look to be striking the ball really well with indeed some great backhands as well as the fearhand. Anderson certainly is giving him plenty backhand practice. I like the determined nature and reactions of Kyle as distinct to the to me almost unnaturally placid on court nature he has at some other times.
I see Kyle's first serves in overall are at 54%. Good if he could get that up or I could see Anderson nicking a break some time ( and he is the one who has had all the BPs, 0/6 ) and it would be tough to break back.
Two sets to one for Mr Edmund - but the fourth set is not going terribly well. Broken in his first service game, and Keving Anderson held to go up 3-0. Looks like a five-set match?
After nearly an hour and a half of tennis Del Potro slumps against the net looking crushed. That was just the first set mate, you've still got to win 3 !
Just watched the end of the TB, finally won 10-8 by Andy when Del Potro put a ball just wide, well they kinda think it was just wide if they got the right mark. My immediate reaction with my admittedly less than great eyesight was wide.
Seems to have been quite a set and with Del Potro having served for the set at *5-4 and then in the TB double faulting at *7-6 in the TB ( not sure quite a big awe from the crowd when his first serve netted didn't contribute to his second serve going the same way with a bigger awe ) before that conclusion, hence his marked distress having given so much.
On we go, Andy 7-6(8) ...

The difference in quality between the matches here is evident, not entirely Kyles fault as matches with Anderson Cilic Karlovic type are often short of quality due to the dominance of serve. Andy in straight sets is the logical conclusion but you never know if he does one of his switch off things.
Drat, drat and double drat. Anderson wins 6-4 in the 5th. Didn't see any of the match but great to see Kyle still competitive against a top quality player in the 5th set after 4 hours. His stamina has been questioned in the past. On to the grass now, which is not his favourite surface.
