London Irish have filed for administration. Not certain where thus will leave Jodie's boyfriend Ben White.
He plays for Scotland so shouldn't have a problem finding a new club.
As well as Ben being without a club, the personal issue for Jodie that plays on her mind is the effect it may have on her life and relationship. At the moment she lives with Ben in Richmond. Scottish Rugby is interested in signing him on a central contract, meaning he'd play for a Scottish club. If that happens or he signs for another non-London(ish) based club, does she move with him or do they live apart? If she moves with him and her training base away from the NTC, what effect would would losing regular everyday access to those facilities and the specialist support people there have on her development? Would her coach want to spend large chunks of time away from home when she's at her training base, in addition to travelling to tournaments, or would she need a new coach? If she decides to stay in London, that means living apart which given how close they seem I imagine would be tough.
There are some big decisions for the pair of them at the most inopportune time for Jodie with it being the peak of the British tennis season.

Its so easy to forget how a players form can be impacted by personal troubles and concerns - we often dont know and people criticise someone for playing poorly , not ever understanding that there might be something behind it.
What a pity to have such uncertainty. From some comments Jodie has made previously I think Ben may have had a very positive effect on her in helping to give her a more professional approach to her tennis. And she has certainly had a good last year.
As Jon says we so often have no idea what's going on away from the court. And Jodie seems to be experiencing the good and the bad of being in a relationship with another professional sports person.
Much as for Ben's rugby. a contract to play for either Edinburgh or Glasgow could probably be arranged, clearly that could have really major implications for Jodie's tennis set-up and potentially their relationship. Maybe a club very much nearer London would suit better.
"Ive had a few injuries in my early years, like from 16 to 18 I had three ankle operations, multiple stress fractures, even this year I fractured my knee."
"I think 14-year-old me would be surprised, I had no idea what it really took to be a professional athlete, Burrage says of her trajectory. In all honesty, even at 17 or 18, I decided to go to university [before changing her mind] because I didnt believe that I could be a professional tennis player. Its still something Im constantly trying to get, that belief in myself. I think 14-year-old me would be happy that I stuck with it."
"Burrage brushes it [Evo's comment] off with a smile. I know Evo well, he loves to have a pop at people. Thats just his banterous [sic] behaviour and how he is with people."
Also, slightly strange chats between her and Emma, with Jodie advising Emma how to get hold of the best pain-relieiving drugs because, seemingly, you don't get given enough/the right ones when you leave hospital and can be in a lot of pain (having lived in the US, France and the UK, this is something I find interesting and rather infuriates me about the UK health approach)

All the best to them.
A paragraph from the report in today's Times on Jodie's win over Caty McNally:
[Burrage's] victory followed the news that her rugby player boyfriend Ben White, who lost his job with the collapse of London Irish, had secured a position with Toulouse.

*Mind you, it does remind me of the 'classic' joke:
Why should you never buy trousers in France?
I don't know, why should you never buy trousers in France?
Because they're either Toulon or Toulouse
re the play on words! Toulon or Toulouse, it's still a helluva lot further away than Scotland would have been! I had no idea of the Times' mistake, as I have no interest in Scottish rugby players nor in players' partners in general & quoted the paragraph only because I vaguely remembered seeing the discussion on here.
Kimberly Birrell's loss in Saskatoon earlier today means that Jodie is guaranteed to make the top 100 when the new rankings appear on Monday. She is currently 97th but can still be overtaken by Bolsova (needs to win Bastad), Kanepi (Amstelveen) and a maximum of one out of Martincova, Errani and Pavlyuchenkova, all in the same half of the Contrexeville draw, while needing to either reach the final or win the event.
Jodie has 707 points from 23 events (15 of the players live ranked between 80 and 100 have played more tournaments). She has 10 wins over top 100 opponents in the last 12 months (again compares favourably with many players ranked 80 to 100).
I think this is a significant achievement. It hasn't come easily. At times it has been pure torture to watch the meltdowns and self-sabotage that used to be such a regular feature. Still feels as though Jodie is a relatively young player with a lot of room for development.
On OER's 2023 WTA race, which includes ITF points (unlike the official WTA race), Jodie is currently 77th, though may drop a few places depending on results in ongoing tournaments.
It's just great that Jodie's improvement in attitude has allowed her to win matches she would have previously lost, and to much more fulfill her potential. And yes hopefully still quite a bit more to come.
Congratulations to Jodie for officially breaking into the top 100 at number 98. Have to say that 18 months ago I would never have expected her to get top 100 so its a great achievement
