The overall County Cup Race for 2018 is attached - this awards points to every county level event, men and women, juniors and adults. It is correct as of 15th July, ie before the Summer County Cup, so not sure how this weeks events will change it.
The 2018 Winter County Cup is starting tomorrow, three day event 23 - 25 November. 44 teams playing indoors at eleven venues.
I'll post a bit more information as the event progresses and I see who is playing.
The top women's group (Kent, Northumberland, Hertfordshire and Essex) is playing at the University of Bath, along with the top men's group - the only joint venue.
Plenty of well-known men in their group, not quite the same with the women as the regulars are either at college or still on tour.
Group 1 men's event has some very strong players this year. Not sure how last years winners Herts will fare as a number of their players from last years winning team are still away at college, all though my perennial favourite Neil Bamford is playing at no 1. Will be interesting to see how he fares against Paul Jubb, Liam Broady and Ryan Penniston.......
I also posted in the mens section in the Summer county cup thread.
It looks like the women's event has a significant bearing on the overall standings, with both Surrey and Middlesex having good results earlier this year. Both teams are much weaker this week, with Emily Appleton for Surrey and Tiffany William for Middlesex possibly the top ranked players. Neither Herts, Kent or Essex appear to have any ranked players. Hard one to call this time round !
Surrey heading for a good week - the men led by Joe Salisbury lead Cheshire 6-2 with one not finished, the women beat Sussex 9-0
Middlesex ladies won 8-1, but the men lost 4-5 to East of Scotland
Kent won both their matches
Hertfordshire lost both mens and womens matches (not all matches finished in either)
Haven't got round to checking all the groups yet, but Dan Evens and Lloyd Glasspool both turned out for Warwickshire, and both won their singles and doubles.
