And Katy then goes on to take the next 2 game and wins the set 7-5.
Jodie had two set points at 5-3 and two more at 5-4.

Didn't realise that, pretty sure whe was in good positions as well during their first match as well. Looks a competitive match, on serve in the second, but Jodie had BP(s) in the first game of the 2nd set.
Win 7-5, 6-3. Think that's a pretty similar score to the one at Surbiton.
She now plays Giorgi/Dodin winner in the FQR. Very topsy turvy match there, Dodin was 3-1 up, then 3-5 down, now 5-5 with Giorgi serving. Dodin had a break point, but now a game point for Cam. Think Dodin would be preferable.

Giorgi takes the first set on a tie break. You'd think both of their games would be very suited to the grass. Cami had a good spell on grass last year but then lost to Jakupovic in the first round of Nottingham which was a big surprise.
Dodin did get to the SF of Surbiton last year, but did very little after that.
Dodin's tennis is a really strange place, as reported in RG with her loss to Hev. She's been wanting to quit, maybe, maybe not, at odds with the world, the fed, whoever.
And I've seen her play live on grass - she's not a natural, that's for sure.

Yeah, it's been an awful start to 2018 for her. I said earlier in the thread that I thought Jodie and Sam's QR1 matches were winnable, but Dodin seemed to come through that pretty straightforward (mind, Sam's a fairly pretty favourable prospect herself at the moment).
I thought the short points, power strokes, kind of hit and hope would be well suited, but I don't think I've actually seen her play live or on TV on the surface. She looks competitive here though, 2-1 up in the 2nd, on serve.
The tall, thinner girls often struggle on grass. I don't mean all of them, of course, there are plenty who manage fine. But of those who never grew up on grass or had much experience of it, I feel that they struggle more. I think they are scared of falling, have more trouble with balance, can't bend as well for the lower balls, and generally look more uncomfortable.
On the contrary, some of the smaller clay court players actually manage surprising well on grass i.e. their tennis doesn't suit grass but they manage to produce their proper level of tennis reasonably easily
Order of play out. Just Katie B in MD action, 3rd on centre. Katy D is 2nd on court 1.
This means I will hopefully get to see Heather, Jo and Petra and Garbine when I go on Tuesday. Which is pretty much everyone I wanted to see! (Ideal world would be to see Katie B's match as well but can't have everything)
I'll be there spectating just tomorrow, going to stay at home Tuesday to watch Andy, Kyle and Dan. Is anyone else going? Drop me a message if you are and fancy meeting up.
(Should have posted this earlier really but forgot...)
Katy looking very cheerful during the coin toss, having a giggle at something the umpire said and seemed to be sharing the joke with Dodin. Seems in a good relaxed frame of mind.
