So, assuming Andy doesn't win here and then doesn't play Wimbledon - he is unranked at that point, isn't he?

If he doesn't use his PR he might manage to scramble into futures qualifying on his national ranking. I wonder what that is

Maybe unranked nationally ...

Pretty poor actually, only ranked 9 nationally !

But his rating is 1.1, so he'd easily get into local competitions

FQR:  (q4/qWC) Jay Clarke WR 223 vs (q6) Roberto Quiroz (ECU) WR 244 (CH = 220 in April last year)

Jay must stand a reasonable chance against a player who, I assume, is more of a clay-courter.

Jay had a decent month or two on the Americas clay but good to now get that first grass court win of the year.

Doesn't for now do anything to increase his ranking points, since his existing last counter is 6 points, the same as he gets for his QR1 win here, but the win's the thing and at least one further match.

Agreed, as I said on Cam's thread, I'm unsure how the balance of giving our up and coming (? in some cases) players WCs benefits them in the long run. Does the experience of playing a good player on a big stage win over the ranking points that they'd get if they were playing at their level, or just slightly above it?

I can't believe the bottom 8th of the draw.. Three of four players (Stan, Andy Kyle) that I'd have said had a shot at winning the title!
