Boys: Junior International Roehampton, grass - Grade 1 (Week 27)

How good a predictor is Roehampton for Wimbledon in terms of performance - any history in the way folks look at Queens for Wimbledon?

Sounds like a question for David

Last year Geller beat Riffice in the Roehampton final.

And then Geller made the Junior Wimbly final but lost to Fokina (who didn't play Roehampton). Riffice lost in R2 in Junior W.

And another lovely win for Jack Draper, going through the draw like a hot knife through butter.

Beats the Italian 16th seed, 4&1.

Into the semis (last year he made R2).

Result for Jack and Emile not posted yet

Add: and Jack keeps on truckin' smile

Into the semis of the doubles, too, with Emile

Jack's next opponent is a Belgian who has won his last two matches by retirement - let's hope luck doesn't run in threes

For the girls it is a very good predictor - 4 of the last 5 winners have done the double (Bencic/Ostapenko/Potapova/Liu - Galfi being the exception)

For the boys Shapovalov is the only one in the last 5 to do the double. However the cast list of winners here is very impressive - Kyrgios, Rublev, Mmoh being the ones before Denis S. Liam Broady was the last British winner in 2011 (went on to reach the Wimbledon final)

Not a bad week for Jack and Aidan. 2SF and a final between them adding to last weeks experience.

Aidan & partner are a break up in the opening set.
It was an American double in the singles

Excellent win in the doubles, taking out the third seeds, by Oliver Okonkwo and Alex Maggs.

Wonder what Oliver's background is and why he hasn't played more ITF tournaments? Or even British Tour ones. He's definitely got the level.

Oliver is one of those players who is both very academic and very athletic, managing to successfully combine full time education at state school (taking 'A' levels) alongside a high level of tennis. He 's off to the University of Iowa on a tennis scholarship in the fall and am sure he will be one to watch......
