Boys & Girls: Junior International Edinburgh, GB - clay - Grade 5 (Week 28)

Lots of GB interest here, as you would expect.

Girls playing first. First two matches on each court completed.

Best GB result so far is a win in two for unranked Madeline Frediani against the third seed, ranked about JWR 800.

Girls R1 (L32):

Little shout out to Sofia Johnson, wildcard, born 2004, who beat the fourth seed, Tiana, easily and has made the quarters.

Great first ITF appearance.

The French girl that she plays next is actually listed on her French tennis academy page as coming from Scotland. In fact, I think she even won the Scottish Junior championship last year.

Just to add that there was a G3 U14 Tennis Europe event going on at the same time (a good way to plan things, I think, lots of knock-on positives from that)

Boys U14 Final:

(1) Sam Reeve (GBR) def. (7) Fabio Nestola (GBR) 6-1 7-6(3)

In the girls, the top two seeds were Italian and Slovakian but the GB players came through:

Girls U14 Final:

Gabriella Lindley def. Aryana Bartlett 6-2 6-3

Clean sweep.

Whatever happened to the Winchester grade 4 that used to be after this?
