Scoreline doesn't seem to really reflect the competitiveness of the games based on the socrelines, but at least Harriet came out on the right end of set 1, 6-2 2-0*
Congrats Harriet, joins KB and KS in the main draw - really looking forward to this event now with the 7pm starts, more so than San Jose to be honest.
Harriet can face:
Wozniacki
Bencic
Hibino
Stollar
Han
In that order hopefully (Han main preference). Hopefully Zheng doesn't withdraw (if she does) before the Qs are placed as Harriet may then draw Swan and Swan would then play a Q loser rather than a winner.
To be honest, on paper you'll struggle to find a more straightforward path to a main WTA draw (even last week) than 340 and 379 who are both more doubles orientated, but the alt Guarachi did beat 5th seed Di Lorenzo yesterday so could have been dangerous and it's great to see Harriet continue where she left off and get some points and wins under her belt and hopefully more to come this coming week.
Yes, not great. Hopefully Belinda is still not up to full speed, but she was looking better at Wimbledon. Could have been far easier, but Hibino / Zhuk in the next round would be a decent opportunity if she can pull off the Bencic upset.
Harriet's second time progressing through WTA qualification, after Nanchang almost exactly a year ago.
The two Katie's in the main draw have qualified once each, as has Tara. Gabi & Katy Dunne are yet to manage it.

Actually Katy D was the first to achieve it - qualifying for Birmingham back in 2014 before retiring in the 3rd set against Giorgi.
