Another of those awful matches where one guy scores more points than the other but ends up losing - I really thought Joel had that match...... :::(((
Of course players can be unlucky on the day, but in general I disagree about the awfulness of tennis matches won by the players with less total points.
Tennis has a wonderful scoring system, and in closish matches it can be very much about winning the right points, and that is an ability and a mindset, as against say what you do at a 40-0 point.
I don't mean awfulness for tennis - yes, the scoring system is wonderful - far better than a completely linear thing like swimming or something when the race is often over by half way through and they just see out the rest....
I mean, awful for the person who loses on the day, like Joel.
Such a shame that both Joel and Alexis came within an absolute whisker of making the QFs at this 25k which would have been a big mark on their results sheet.
Guaranteed semi-finalist though, with Ryan v Jonathan.
And Josh P in with a good shout.
Guaranteed GB winners and finalists in the doubles too, with Johnson+ playing Binding/Duncan, and Paris/Jones playing Hoyt+
