Something tells me the home favourite is in with a good chance there SC.  I think the copy/paste gremlin has struck again.

Great job, my man !

Whatever happens tomorrow, so pleased to see Ryan back playing, winning some decent matches back to back, and competing.

Good luck in the final.

Add: and that, I assume, is one ATP ranking point guaranteed for the start of next year and the new system ......

In the 25k final, Pete Bothwell served for the first set at 5-4 but Ryan hit a screaming forehand down the line and saves it, and breaks back, for 5-5

Bothwell sort of gave that away (two DFs) but Ryan hist another cracking FH winner down the line that took the stuffing out of the Irishman.

Ryan leads 7-5

Ryan broke instantly and was in the driving seat but somehow got broken back - 1-1

And some really slack tennis sees Ryan let himself get broken. 2-3* to Bothwell.

But Ryan attacking the second serve (and a DF from Pete) sees Ryan break back

And then Pete breaks again - do neither of these guys even WANT to hold serve????

And Ryan loses the second set 3-6

The commentator suggests it might be the heat or tiredness that is making him a big sluggish.

Might just be some sloppy play, maybe due to having so little match practice recently.

Any which way, it's a shame as he had the momentum in that set and sort of collapsed (Pete played well in the last two games but not until then).

Now's the time to summon all the energy and be tight.

Allez, Ryan !

Pretty ropey start to the third from both players. Ryan had three BPs but couldn't do it.

On serve. *1-2

Add: in the next game, Pete has 2 BPs but Ryan serves well to defend them.

And in the end Pete Bothwell wins the third set 6-3

Which was a perfectly fair score.

I don't know why (could be many reasons) but Ryan was struggling, all through that match, always a bit off balance and out of position, and too far back.

But it's great to see Ryan back. And a final in a 25k is a very decent result - hope he's not too disappointed. Onwards and upwards.

(Just a pity that Joel didn't serve it out against Peter when he has the chance ! )

Well done to Bothwell though - and to the Irish who get their Irish champion.

Pity for Ryan but as you say CD, great to see him back playing well and picking up serious points.

But I am also pleased for Pete B. Met him last year as well down in Palma de Rio and he is a really good guy. Victory on home soil will be a very proud moment for him. But again as you said, I hope Joel looks at this and sees how well he must be playing himself to have come so close. It was a bit like when Billy had MP in the QF in Denia a couple of weeks back and then his opponent went on to take the title. On such fine margins ..........
