Obviously SC's shock horror ('and 33!') was warranted:

The "shock, horror" was on account of a 33-year-old still rattling round in Futures qualies!  wink

For what it's worth, young Oscar (age 16) is actually ATP 1617 today.

But James Story is a junior too, born 2001, as is Brandon (born 2000). So that's two juniors through, both of whom I like.

And Mike Shaw's only 19. And George Houghton only 20, one of our top uni lads (and came so close to getting his ranking in Portugal).

In sum, that also means we're going to have the max possible (as of yesterday) of 7 GB qualifiers, which is lovely.

THere's also a guaranteed Brit winner (and Brit runner-up) in the doubles as there are no all-foreign pairs

Two of our qualifiers get the first and second seeds - which is a bit of a shame (especially for little fave, Brandon).

But, to be fair, the whole level is so low, compared to normal that there are lots of very lowly ranked GB players who've got very decent draws.

Good call by the poster in the know about the wildcards in that Dan Martin and Jake Hersey (from the Nationals) have a MD wildcard.

With Dan getting a LL (not a British one - hmmm), and Jake getting a qualifier, those are pretty good draws.

Wildcards too for Mason Recci and young Harry Lazell - born October 2003 !

I haven't seen him play yet but I know Harry Lazell is very highly rated by the folk at Warwick Boat Club, he was flagged up to me about six months ago, I'm told he's one to watch!

I saw him play at the G5 Wirral junior last year - very talented player.

I've heard very good things about him too and great that 14 year-old Harry's getting a chance (is this also linked to his singles and double success at the Nationals?)

A nice piece following his Nationals success can be found here;
