Wonderful start to the new tennis year for Harriet... and has a lot of people scrambling already with their prediction rankings! Just 18 points so far for Harriet, but it is more the statement of intent. This month Harriet has a (non-counting) 2 points dropping off for reaching the QF in a 15k in Sharm last Jan. The 18 points are net 10 as will replace 8 points from a 60k in Istanbul last April, so it is still only 2-3 places in the rankings, but it is a wonderful signal of her preparation and intent for this coming year.

Really good to see from Harriet.

She pursued an.ambitious schedule in the second half of 2018, with relatively limited success and some questioning. But with little to defend over these months, for an ambitious young player there did seem to me little to lose and much to possibly gain, if not by way of ranking points gained by way of lessons learned and knowledge gained.

And she has come out of the blocks firing in the new season.
