It's exactly as Red says, WTA 2019 Rulebook Page 47  wink

Confirmed, it's Bertens vs Pera who is now the lucky, lucky loser. Don't know where this leaves Jo though ahead of next week.

Where has this information come from?

Just because it's in the rulebook doesn't mean it's right ethically. It doesn't mean that the rulebook shouldn't be reviewed.

Various online sources who have seemingly got it wrong. I'll delete those posts to ensure less confusion.

Jo has played Kiki three times before:-
H2H 2-1
Bath 2012 Bertens 6-3 3-6 6-7(6)
Copenhagen 2012 Konta 6-2 6-1
Cincinnati 2017 Konta 6-3 6-3

....so in this case, Jo wasn't actually fit enough to play. Does make an argument for retired players in the FQR to not be considered for the LL spot in the first place.

And you were right in the end Ace, it was Pera who is eventually playing Bertens.

I was doing Jo a disservice thinking she was taking advantage of loop holes in the lucky loser system. Obviously really was injured. I hope whoever on her team says she had a blocked neck was exaggerating because looking this up on google  it sounds like a serious problem. As I noted before this is the 4th time recently  that Jo  has had  injury/illness problems  just prior to a Grand Slam. Is this caused by  stress in someway?

Yes the whole things seems a bit strange. Nothing seems to have been heard from Jo's camp yet as to why she's withdrawn again, but presumably she still has some neck issues, whatever the problem is. She has a week now to recover fully.
