Jay's scoreline doesn't look great but from a post on another forum from someone who watched it, he was getting in the games so that's something.
Yes. Just seen a tweet saying that on BP conversions, Jay was 1/7 while Sonego was 4-6. Suggests that it was a decent performance from Jay.
Though I didn't see the match, the match stats on the AO Match Centre website back up the view that Jay put in a strong performance. For a start, the match lasted 90mins, whereas Dan Evans' match lasted just 57mins, with the same overall score (Dan winning his). The funky match 'ribbon' summary timeline, on the website, shows that a couple of lung-bursting games (3rd in 1st set, and 2nd in 2nd set) that went against Jay were his downfall. His opponents serve was more effective, whilst Jay's returning was pretty good.
As an aside, I do like the match 'ribbon' display, it does summarise the match progression very well. Has anyone else noticed the scaling bar beneath the ribbon, which enables the match 'ribbon' display to be modified by the reader?
If you qualify and get knocked out in R1 you get the 25 + 10. Was pretty sure this was the case but just double checked a rankings breakdown for someone in that position last season.
Yes that was the bit I wasn't sure about as it is different in the women's rankings.
Does anyone have an update on Dan's coaching arrangements? That's what I'm really interested in, since we know he has the potential to be back in the top 100. Keep wishing he could get Mark Hilton back, since I think Mark was far more valuable to Dan than he is to Kyle, who has Freddie Rosengren as his main coach.
According to this article, he is working with David Felgate
I do wish they would stop headlining his ban now. It's over. Move on.
I note that in the recent "claim" that an unnamed England footballer was spotted taking cocaine in a night club, the football authorities said that they were very hard on drugs offenders and that for first drugs offence (recreational drugs) was a 0-3 month ban. If that is the case then 12 months for Dan was excessive.
All non MD WC men's singles R1 losers in Slams and Masters get 10 points plus any points won in qualifying. Singles MD WC and doubles R1 losers in these tournaments get zero ( and compulsory counting zeros at that, other than Monte Carlo ).

For the footballer with money to burn, perhaps a 3 month ban is a nice mid-winter break ? I do agree the media should forget about it now, Dan has paid the price of his actions, and I'm sure he accepted the ban, 12months and all. It's not a question of it being performance enhancing, he's a professional tennis player. I'm looking forward to him rising up the rank list, and winning some big tournaments. He's an important player for GB.
And great thanks Bob for the info on David Felgate. It's an interesting article and really good to see Dan's commitment to regaining fitness again. Would certainly love to see him come through qualifying and into the MD.
Interesting Re Wardy and Lta not supporting him. I'd have thought they would have helped, ye he isn't young but he's still got potential and I think that is short sighted. What if mum and dad werent able to help? Many couldn't, I know I couldn't support my kids at that level.
