Elbaba reached the final in Landisville vs Laura a couple of years ago so that would be a remarkable result.  Go Ola!

Pity but also looks a very encouraging effort. Well done. Ola.

Yes, that's a hugely encouraging performance from Ola. She might have lost her WTA ranking for the time being but she's shown she can perform virtually as an equal to the WR 517. However, since she has no WTA counters at this point in time, it's still going to take Ola some time potentially to get back that WTA ranking...

Ouch that main draw really is awful indeed!

In the doubles Emily WS is indeed playing with Sofia Shapatava (GEO) again, ie they've shifted their partnership from Hong Kong to Guadeloupe this week. They're also 3rd seeds, which should help this week - they avoid the top seeds first up at least!!

Emily A is playing with Helene Scholsen (BEL), who I thought she had played with before*, and they face another unseeded pair first round.

*But on checking I can't see that they have, with Helene's last Brit partner being the third Emily, Emily Arb, some time last year.

Rain meant second round of qualifying delayed overnight.

Do you know it rained? I assumed they run out of time (light?). There were a few long matches yesterday and by a rough calculation Q1 wasn't wrapped up until nearly 6pm.

I believe Em's match was scheduled as not before 6pm, but they have floodlights, anyway. (Em on instagram showed a view of the main court)

Edit: On today's order of play, Jodie's match is scheduled as not before 17:30, and another match as NB 18:00. Em is first on at 9:30am
