Yes, that's a hugely encouraging performance from Ola. She might have lost her WTA ranking for the time being but she's shown she can perform virtually as an equal to the WR 517. However, since she has no WTA counters at this point in time, it's still going to take Ola some time potentially to get back that WTA ranking...

In the doubles Emily WS is indeed playing with Sofia Shapatava (GEO) again, ie they've shifted their partnership from Hong Kong to Guadeloupe this week. They're also 3rd seeds, which should help this week - they avoid the top seeds first up at least!!
Emily A is playing with Helene Scholsen (BEL), who I thought she had played with before*, and they face another unseeded pair first round.
*But on checking I can't see that they have, with Helene's last Brit partner being the third Emily, Emily Arb, some time last year.
Rain meant second round of qualifying delayed overnight.
Do you know it rained? I assumed they run out of time (light?). There were a few long matches yesterday and by a rough calculation Q1 wasn't wrapped up until nearly 6pm.
