Really alarmed by the negativity coming from Jodie. How she can think it's productive to behave in this way is baffling - and this is when she's ahead! I get that she may feel like she's playing catch up with her contemporaries, but if she looked at the likes of Harriet and Katie B she would see that they're focused and on task all the time. Huge issue to work on imo.
Both Jodie and Freya often seem to try and find a way to lose... snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory......
However, Jodie's been playing very well this match, far more aggressive than Lim, whose dropshots have been her only real claim to fame (and her micro footwork is very good but that's normal because she's smaller and more defensive). Overall, it's been very encouraging. But she has to 'harden up' slightly at the key points. I don;t think it's a sea-change though that's needed - just a good coach to put her straight.
Yes, but even as a youngster she was highly emotional. Freya, however, is deadpan. And yet the same schema of play seems to pan out the same.
I agree she distributes the ball very well. I do wish she come in sometimes - she's got Lim on the end of a string half the time, just looping the balls back at full stretch and yet Jodie makes it hard for herself by refusing to take the ball out the air, which is not a tricky shot.
Oh that's a shame. But thanks for steering me to the stream. I need to watch some tennis this evening. I don't think I have ever seen Jodie play before.
