Excellent news that more of the 2001 boys cohort are getting the opportunity to play a junior slam as of right, even more exciting is that both George and Jack arent there although eligible.

Yes. I watched James Story and Harry Wendelken play super tennis in a game of doubles in June and thought how nice it was that there was such depth - clean, technically good, athletic tennis. Blu goes in this pile too and is doing well at the G1 in Costa Rica. (Oscar W has skills too, and things to work on, and is having a run at the G1 in Prague) --- Jake is obviously in the MD.

Connor's tennis left me less impressed but that might have just been the day....

How does 7 players in singles draws (4 plus 3) stack up to our normal entry level - seems higher than recently for an overseas slam but I dont really follow Juniors so maybe have the wrong perception?

The main draw hasn't been particularly kind, with 5 out of 6 non-seeds drawing a seeded player - at least they appear to be weaker seeds generally. Harry beat Jacob's opponent last week and edged his own Belgian seed 7-5 in the third at the Eddie Herr. Victoria, Destinee, James and Connor play tonight (Victoria and James start proceedings around midnight)

Boys R1 (L64)

(12) Tristan Boyer (USA) v Jacob Fearnley
(Q) James Story v (16) Eliot Spizzirri (USA)
(WC) Chen Dong (AUS) v (Q) Connor Thomson
Harry Wendelken v (10) Gauthier Onclin (BEL)

Girls R1 (L64)

Himari Sato (JPN) v (16) Emma Raducanu
Destinee Martins v (10) Hong Yi Cody Wong (HKG)
(14) Sada Nahimana (BDI) v Victoria Allen

The last time we had 7 players was the 2017 Australian Open and there hasn't been a higher figure for a long time (I have checked the last decade, and nothing beats it).

Clearly Jack Draper could have got in and Anton M and George L no doubt good enough too.

Even better when consider George and Jack arent playing because they have moved on. Aidan played last year in his final year and was our best junior, had Holly F stayed fit I think she would be there too.

Cracking results from Destanee and Vicky.

Good to see Conor make good use of the draw.

Shame for James.
